Emergency dentist in Royal Oak

If you've broken a tooth, lost a crown, or you're in pain, call 248-398-5520 as early in the day as you can. We keep time in the schedule for emergencies, and you don't need to be a patient already. If swelling is spreading toward your eye or neck, or it's hard to breathe or swallow, go to the emergency room first.

What happens at your visit
- Call first
Call 248-398-5520 and tell us what happened. We'll tell you what to do until you get here. For a knocked-out tooth, hold it by the top, keep it in milk, and come straight in.
- Get you comfortable
Stopping the pain comes first. We find the cause, numb the area, and take an x-ray to see what's going on underneath.
- Fix what we can today
Often we can finish the repair on the spot, like a filling, re-cementing a crown, or a simple extraction. Bigger problems get a temporary fix today and a plan for the rest.
- Plan the rest
Before you leave, you'll know what comes next, when, and roughly what it will cost.
Cost and insurance
An emergency exam and x-ray is billed like any other exam, and insurance usually covers it. Treatment costs depend on what you need, and we'll tell you before we start. See financing and insurance, or our membership plan if you don't have insurance.
Common questions
Do I have to be an existing patient?
No. We see new patients for emergencies all the time. You'll fill out a short form when you get here.
What counts as a dental emergency?
Strong pain, bleeding that won't stop, swelling, or a tooth that's broken or knocked out. If you're not sure, call and describe it. We'd rather hear from you.
What if it happens on a weekend?
We're open two Saturday mornings a month. Otherwise, leave a message and we'll call you back as soon as we open. If swelling is spreading or you're having trouble breathing or swallowing, go to the emergency room.
